How can you not love this song? I bounced upon this song and quickly noticed the album cover.something about it was quite familiar including the circular fisheye lens photo of the ban. Oh yes, it is a
dead ringer for that jangle-pop classic "Mr. Tambourine Man". That was enough to draw me in and give a listen. And how glad I am at having done so. What a fine slice of jangle pop. The band left their
hometown of Bloomington, IN. for the folk-rock capitol of the world, Los Angeles CA.
Here is the bandcamp link of the song.

This Week's Featured Video #3 - The Rhinos - Everything That She Believed
A 21st Century song that I have grown to love over time. The more you play it, the more it gets under your skin. The interplay between lead guitar and organ is truly majestic.
See what I mean.

This Week's Featured Video #4 - Three Hour Tour - Love Sick Trip
Here is my favorite "Power Pop" song of all time "Love Sick Trip" by Three Hour Tour. The music reaches out and just grabs your attention. Yet the lyrics are a sheer marvel in and of themselves. How can you go wrong with
words such as this? "If only time stood still and sat on the window sill would you be happy then just to keep it there?" And this from a band supposedly named after the "Theme from Gilligan's Island" TV Show.

This Week's Featured Video #5 - Death Cab for Cutie & Rose Polenzani - Soul Meets Body
Haven't featured much alternate rock lately. Thus it must be time to do so. There are still masterpieces to be found within this genre. Here is one.
The trick for many bands is to maintain a valid intellectually challenging and stimulating artistic vision while bringing it all to the masses. 'Death Cab For Cuties' no exactly how to perform such a balancing feat. And do so with flying colors. "Soul Meets Body" is a perfect example. As if this glorious song isn't enough in its stupendous original form, do be sure to check out the truly stunning version performed by The Electronic Anthology Project featuring vocals by Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and electronic wizardry by Built to Spill's Brett Nelson. As a sweetner, listen to Rose Polenzani's minimalist version stripped bare to voice and acoustic guitar.
Here is the Elctronic Anthlogy Project version

Classic Music Rediscovered - Cindy Williams - They Talk About Us
This song may be the most obscure song worthy of this blog that I have found yet. I'm reaching way back into the past now as this cameout around 1967. As I understand it, she only issued two 45s both only in the U.K. This tune should have been a massive hit. FYI, this is not the same Cindy Williams that appeared on Laverne & Shirley in the seventies. This Cindy Williams came from Swansea in Wales.Boy, can she belt out a song. BTW, It took ages to find a place that plays it Now, mercifully Youtube finally showcases it.

New Musical Discoveries - Courtney Barnett - Need A Little Time
Here is a brand new single which serves as a teaser for Courtney's new album due out on May.18. If this song is any indication, I can hardly wait. From the moment, Courtney sang her first line, I was immediately enthralled. And the tune continues to get better from there. An thoroughly engaging bit of folk- rock, indie pop, and alt-rock. As a further enticement, the video perfectly fits the breezy nature of the tune, from the first outfitting by possible robots to the 2001 allusions. Check it out today!
